118 sailors participated in the Tallinn Yacht Club Cup

Instead of its traditional August slot, the 26th Tallinn Yacht Club Cup was held last weekend in Lohusalu. The regatta also served as the second stage of the Garmin Sailing Series. Organized annually since 2001, the event has grown into one of the most important competitions on the Estonian sailing calendar, attracting sailors from both Estonia and Latvia.

This year, 118 sailors competed in the RS Feva, 29er, 49er, 470, ILCA 6, ILCA 7, and RS Aero classes, including 34 athletes from the Tallinn Yacht Club Sailing School.

The regatta was officially opened by Jaanus Saat, Mayor of Lääne-Harju Municipality, Kai Kallas, Board Member of the Estonian Yachting Union, and Egon Mats, Board Member of Tallinn Yacht Club.

The opening day offered sunny weather and steady winds, providing excellent sailing conditions and allowing the first races to be completed as scheduled. Throughout the weekend, Lohusalu’s unique offshore conditions, with large waves and strong currents, presented competitors with demanding challenges.

Although the weather forecast ahead of the regatta was not particularly promising, the race management team successfully took advantage of every suitable weather window and delivered a comprehensive racing program. Depending on the class, competitors completed between six and ten races, and by Sunday the stage winners had been determined.
